Laura Zylstra, Managing Consultant, New England

Laura Zylstra is a seasoned fundraising professional with a comprehensive background in annual fund development, strategic planning and program audits, building and implementing direct response fundraising programs, proposal writing, executing capital campaigns, and conducting new market entry assessments for fundraising programs internationally. Ms. Zylstra has served nonprofits throughout the United States as well as service to international NGOs, with a focus on Asia. She is a frequent speaker and workshop presenter at national and international conferences around the world. Ms. Zylstra is a qualified trainer on Group Facilitation, Franklin-Covey Time Management and the ICA Workshop Method and has developed fundraising “how-to” manuals and training modules. She has served on numerous boards, including the Washington Quaker Workcamps and the Rockland chapter of Rotary International, and is the current chairperson of the chapter’s International Service Projects committee. Before joining Skystone Ryan, Ms. Zylstra was principal of the Portland-based fundraising firm ZFC Consulting in Maine. Ms. Zylstra has a Bachelor of Science in Advertising and Public Relations from Grand Valley State University and completed the Managing the Capital Campaign course from The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.
